What is Club Gold?
Your club or school holds its own championship, usually once a year. Win it, and the title of champion stays yours until the next championship. Then everyone tries to win it again. If you won your age group, or your section in the tournament, that counts too. The Club Cup sticker is for playing in the championship, and this one is for winning it.
How the champion is found
The Club Cup page shows how the championship runs. When the last round is over, the player with the most points takes the title. If you lose in round one, keep going, because a slow start can still end in first place.
You know them, and they know you
In the championship you play people you meet every week. They know how you play, and you know how they play. That is why it helps to get ready for the championship at home. Play every game for real, even against your best friend. Then you know that the title you win is really yours.
Champions started small
Jose Raul Capablanca was 12 years old when he beat the champion of all of Cuba. For you, a club title can be the place where you start.
How you get the sticker
Your grown-up or coach checks it and hands you the sticker. To prove it, show them the final standings, which list everyone's points. A photo of the trophy or the cup works too. If your club is at school, the teacher who runs it can check it. Did you win your championship before you had the passport? It still counts. Many clubs hang old standings on their walls, where you can find your name again.
