Who may use sjakkpass.com, what is allowed, and what is yours.
sjakkpass.com is made by Sjakkpass AS for children aged 5 to 12 and the grown-ups around them. Lessons, training and puzzles can be used with or without an account. Today the whole program is open to everyone.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the site and to every account on it.
Who can use the site
Anyone may use the site. A child's account is created together with a parent, who agrees to these terms for the child.
Clubs and schools may use the site with their children. A class needs no accounts for lessons, training and puzzles; accounts for a group are created with the parents' agreement.
Your account
- One account is for one person. Choose a nickname, not the child's full name, and keep the password inside the family.
- You are responsible for what happens on the account. If you think someone else is using it, change the password and tell us.
- You can delete the account yourself in your profile at any time. What we store about it, and for how long, is in the Privacy policy.
Fair play
The site is built for learning, so a few things are not allowed:
- trying to get into parts of the site that are closed to you, or to slow it down or stop it working for others;
- using a bug (a mistake in how the site works) to get progress, artifacts or coins you did not earn; if you find a bug, tell us, and we fix it;
- using the site to harm or bother anyone.
If an account breaks these rules, we can close it, and we tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, write to us.
Coins and the Market
Coins are only ever earned by doing tasks. In the Market they buy boards, avatars, lottery tickets and whatever else we add there over time. Coins cannot be bought with money.
Coins and the items bought with them belong to the account and only work on sjakkpass.com. If an account is deleted or closed, they go with it.
What belongs to whom
Everything on the site (lessons, tasks, texts, pictures, stickers, medals, design and code) belongs to Sjakkpass AS or to the people who licensed it to us. You may use it at home, in a club or in a classroom. You may not copy, sell or publish it without our written permission.
SJAKKPASS is a trademark of Sjakkpass AS.
The printed passport, the Sjakkpass VISUM and Loftet
The printed chess passport and the Sjakkpass VISUM, which opens everything on sjakkpass.com, are sold separately and are not on sale yet. Their sale terms, prices and your right to cancel (the right of withdrawal) are shown before you pay. Get the passport says what is coming.
Loftet, at loftet.app, has its own terms.
Changes and availability
Lessons, tasks and features can change, move or be removed. We do our best to keep the site running, but we cannot promise it is always available.
We can change these terms. If a change matters for your account, we email you before it takes effect, and the date below is updated.
If something goes wrong
If the site does not work as described, tell us at support@sjakkpass.com, and we fix what we can. Our responsibility for loss or damage follows Norwegian law. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your own country.
Law and disputes
Norwegian law applies to these terms. If you live in an EU or EEA country, you may also bring a case before its courts. A dispute can also be taken to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) or to the consumer body in your country.
