You defeated Dragulf the dragon, the final boss, in a Battle on Sjakkpass.

Who is Dragulf?

Dragulf is the dragon of the Diamond level, and he is the final boss. He is one of the toys in the Attic, and you play chess against him on a screen. He has three heads, and they argue about who gets to play. So they take turns, one head at a time. The Boss plays it safe. He castles early, keeps his pieces together and builds a fortress around his king. Then he waits for you to make a mistake. The Daredevil comes straight for your king, with pieces hanging on both sides. The Idiot steps in when Dragulf is well ahead or when he gets bored, and he gives pieces away. The screen always shows you which head is playing.

Game or Battle?

You can play against Dragulf in two different ways:

  • A Game has three helpers: a hint, an undo, and a reroll. The reroll makes Dragulf take his move back and try another one.
  • A Battle has no helpers at all.
  • Only a Battle counts for the sticker.

Meet all three heads in a Game first, and then play a Battle.

Play the head in front of you

Dragulf's plan changes with his head, so play against the head that is playing:

  • Against the Boss, take space on the board, get all your pieces out, and attack where he is not looking.
  • Against the Daredevil, keep your king safe and your pieces protected, and stay out of simple traps.
  • Against the Idiot, stay alert, because he gives you chance after chance. Take them.
  • When the heads switch, the new head does not know what the old one was doing. So look for the pieces the last head left hanging.

Play all the way

Dragulf never gives up and there is no clock, so the only way to win is checkmate. He says yes to a draw when he is losing. But a draw is not a win, so never offer him one. Play on until his king has no way out.

How you get the sticker

Beat Dragulf in a Battle, and he gives you his mascot button. The button sits in his slot on your shelf in the Attic. The button proves you beat him. Show it to your grown-up or coach. They hand you the sticker for your passport. White or Black, both count. If he won this time, it was still a good game, and you have not defeated him yet. Play him again as often as you like.
