Always someone to play

Is there no one at home to play with right now? Online, someone is always ready for a game. Pick how fast you want to play, and a few seconds later the site finds you an opponent.

How a game goes

  • In a slow game, you have minutes for each move. In blitz, you have a few minutes for the whole game.
  • Your opponent plays about as well as you.
  • You take turns moving, and a clock counts each player's time.
  • The game ends in checkmate, in a draw, or when someone resigns (gives up). Then the game is saved on your profile.

Where do I play?

  • ChessKid is a site made just for kids. It has no chat, so no stranger can talk to you.
  • Lichess shows no ads. In Kid Mode, other players can send you only their moves. A smiley face in the corner shows that Kid Mode is on.
  • Chess.com is the biggest chess site, and its site for kids is ChessKid.

A coach's tip for the 10 games

Start with slow games, so you have time to think. Wins and losses both count, and so do games against the site's computer. When you lose a game, open it and find the move where things went wrong. Then start the next one, and you will see that ten games go by fast.

How you get the sticker

Sign in and show your game list to your grown-up or coach. On ChessKid, your grown-up can see every game from their own account. Your grown-up or coach checks it and hands you the sticker. A grown-up at home can check it for you. Did you play on the account before you had the passport? It still counts. The next sticker, 20+ Games, is for 20 games against other people on the same account.
